Comcast to spin off NBCUniversal and Sky
On June 29, 2026, Comcast announced a plan to separate NBCUniversal into an independent public company through a tax-free spin-off. The new NBCUniversal is to include the NBC and Telemundo networks, Bravo, Peacock, the Universal film and television studios, the theme parks and Sky. Comcast keeps its broadband, wireless, Xfinity and Comcast Business operations, and may hold up to 19.9% of NBCUniversal for up to a year after the spin. Completion is expected in about a year and depends on final board approval, tax opinions, regulatory approvals and financing. Mike Cavanagh is to be NBCUniversal's CEO and Michael Angelakis Comcast's CEO; Brian Roberts stays involved in both. The announcement did not say which company will own FreeWheel, Comcast Advertising, Effectv or Universal Ads.
