Pioneer in mobile SDK management and brand-safety enforcement for app publishers, acquired by AppLovin to strengthen its MAX mediation platform
SafeDK was an Israeli AdTech company that developed a comprehensive SDK management and brand-safety platform for mobile app publishers and developers. Founded in Tel Aviv, the company addressed a critical pain point in the mobile ecosystem: the lack of visibility and control over the dozens of third-party SDKs embedded in mobile applications. SafeDK's platform allowed publishers to monitor SDK behavior in real time, enforce brand-safety policies, and prevent malicious or non-compliant SDKs from degrading user experience or violating advertiser standards. The company's technology gave mobile app publishers granular control over when and how SDKs fired, enabling them to block inappropriate ad content, prevent SDK conflicts, and ensure compliance with privacy regulations. This was particularly valuable as the mobile advertising ecosystem grew increasingly complex, with apps routinely embedding 20-50+ third-party SDKs that could introduce performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and brand-safety risks without the publisher's knowledge. AppLovin acquired SafeDK on July 9, 2019, integrating its technology into AppLovin's MAX mediation platform to enhance brand-safety capabilities for publishers using the MAX in-app bidding solution. Following the acquisition, SafeDK's distinct brand and independent operations were wound down as its core technology and team were absorbed into AppLovin's broader product suite. The acquisition reflected growing industry demand for brand-safety and SDK governance tools as mobile advertising matured and advertisers demanded greater accountability.
