Leading mobile A/B testing platform before acquisition by Airship

Apptimize was a mobile optimization platform that provided A/B testing, feature flagging, and progressive rollout capabilities for mobile applications. Founded in 2013, the company enabled mobile app developers and product teams to experiment with different app variations, test new features, and optimize user experiences without requiring app store updates. The platform supported both iOS and Android applications and was particularly valued for its visual editor that allowed non-technical team members to create experiments. In 2019, Apptimize was acquired by Airship (formerly Urban Airship), a mobile app engagement platform. Following the acquisition, Apptimize's technology was integrated into Airship's broader mobile app experience platform. The acquisition allowed Airship to expand its capabilities beyond push notifications and messaging into experimentation and optimization, creating a more comprehensive mobile engagement solution. While Apptimize operated as a distinct brand for some time after the acquisition, its technology and features were eventually fully integrated into Airship's product suite. The Apptimize brand and standalone platform were phased out as Airship consolidated its experimentation capabilities under the Airship brand, marking the end of Apptimize as an independent entity in the mobile optimization market.
