The company's core differentiator was its focus on artificial intelligence and predictive modeling, which it marketed as "Moment Scoring" technology. However, the company faced challenges including advertiser concerns about transparency, brand safety issues, and increased competition in the programmatic space. In 2017, Rocket Fuel was acquired by Sizmek (formerly MediaMath's parent company) for approximately $145 million, significantly below its IPO valuation.
