SharpSpring was a cloud-based marketing automation platform that provided comprehensive marketing and sales tools primarily targeting digital marketing agencies and small to medium-sized businesses. The platform offered an integrated suite including CRM, email marketing, social media management, landing pages, lead scoring, and analytics capabilities. SharpSpring differentiated itself through agency-friendly pricing and white-label capabilities that allowed marketing agencies to rebrand and resell the platform to their clients. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Gainesville, Florida, SharpSpring went public in 2015 (NASDAQ: SHSP) and competed in the crowded marketing automation space against platforms like HubSpot, Marketo, and Pardot. The company focused on providing enterprise-level marketing automation features at a more accessible price point for the SMB market. In January 2021, SharpSpring was acquired by Constant Contact, which itself was owned by Clearlake Capital Group. Following the acquisition, SharpSpring's technology and customer base were integrated into Constant Contact's portfolio. The SharpSpring brand continued to operate as a distinct product line under Constant Contact's ownership, maintaining its focus on agency partnerships and marketing automation for the mid-market segment.
