Having evolved from a consumer app into the leading geospatial platform, it now offers location intelligence solutions serving developers, marketers, and data scientists. Its advertising-focused capabilities include omnichannel campaign attribution for analyzing performance and optimizing ad spend, audience creation based on real-world consumer behavior, and geofencing tools that enable marketers to reach consumers based on real-time movements. In September 2026 Infillion agreed to buy Foursquare, planning to combine its real-world visitation data with Catalina's purchase data so advertisers can measure whether ads drove store visits and purchases; the deal had not closed as of October 2026.
